Rapa Iti Bread and Garden Produce (no bakery)

27° 37.1′ S · 144° 20.0′ W · approximate

Rapa has no boulangerie in any source: bread is baked by the villagers in big communal ovens, and fruit comes from private gardens, both shared generously with the rare visiting yacht.

Practical

Approximate position: Ha'urei village (OSM); the communal ovens are not mapped. Pitufa (Nov 2018): locals invite visitors to join communal activities, including 'baking bread in the big communal ovens' and making popoi from taro root. There is no vegetable market, but fruit is usually available from gardens if you ask nicely; return with presents as thanks. Carry flour and yeast to bake aboard, and treat the two magasins (see 'Ha'urei Magasins (Rapa Iti)') as a top-up. No prices are published.
