Hokatu Mooring (Ua Huka)
8° 56.1′ S · 139° 31.5′ W · approximate
A small, rough bay off Hokatu, Ua Huka's easternmost village, with a mooring that cruisers report is usable only in calm weather. Yachts almost never stop here, and most visit Hokatu by road.
Practical
Coordinate approximate: estimated off the village and the Maison du Pétroglyphe (Wikipedia, OpenStreetMap). No published waypoint, so do not rely on this position. Chugach (Apr 2019): the mooring is to be used only in calm weather. Jacaranda (Oct 2015): small and rough; the bottom looked like sand with much rock from the hill above, and a dinghy landing looked difficult. A local woman remembered only one yacht in about ten years. Inspect the mooring yourself before trusting it.
Best for
A flat-calm day stop only
