Dada Keck Pearl Farm (Akaputu Bay)
23° 4.4′ S · 134° 56.0′ W · approximate
A small family pearl farm in Baie d'Akaputu near Pointe Tepaeture, where an English-speaking farmer walks you through the whole harvest and sells pearls.
Practical
Coordinate is the source's 'approximate waypoint' for the blue pearl house, the second from the right in a row of four (Sugar Shack, May 2020). Sugar Shack anchored at North Totegegie and dinghied 1.2 nm across the lagoon. The farm produces about 100,000 sellable pearls a year. Dada speaks fluent English, explains each step and has been featured in magazines. Contact him ahead (ask in Rikitea), and pick a calm day for the dinghy crossing.
