Weber's Joy / Witch's Hut (Dive Site)
12° 12.4′ N · 68° 19.0′ W
A north-coast double reef just south of 1000 Steps - shallow first reef, a sandy valley, then a second reef with lavender stovepipe sponges, stingrays and eagle rays. Locals call it Witch's Hut after a small house once on the beach.
Practical
Depth 3-40 m: first reef from 3 m, sand valley 12-18 m, second reef to 30-40 m (bonaire.com). Walk about 40 m from roadside parking (room for about six cars, full by 9 am in high season) to a coral beach with a small stone step. Little current in the shallows; some at depth on tide changes. Good first night dive if you stay on the first reef. Boat traffic including Klein Bonaire water taxis - SMB recommended. Shore dive: no yacht anchoring anywhere in the Marine Park. From a yacht, come by dinghy and tie to the yellow STINAPA public mooring (2 consecutive hours max, boats up to 13 m, moor by the bow; STINAPA), or drive. Nature fee required (US$40 per calendar year per bonaire.com); no gloves, no touching or feeding, reef-safe sunscreen; an orientation dive is mandatory on arrival and an SMB is recommended (STINAPA). Check STINAPA's SCTLD stoplight map before diving and move from green to yellow to red sites, never the reverse. Coordinate: OpenStreetMap dive-site marker on the Queens Highway coast north of town (bonaire.com's text places it south of town, which conflicts with its own map pin and OSM).
