1000 Steps
12° 12.7′ N · 68° 19.3′ W
Bonaire's most famous shore dive: 67 limestone steps (which feel like a thousand on the way back up) lead down to a cove where pagoda-shaped star corals shelter sergeant majors' egg patches and turtles cruise past - whale sharks have been sighted.
Practical
Depth 6-30 m (20-100 ft); shore entry plus a boat mooring (yellow, 2-hour max) for dinghy access (Tourism Corporation Bonaire). From the moorings it is a long dinghy ride north - most visitors drive. Entry over cobbles can be tricky with surge. Nature tag required. Coordinate: OpenStreetMap beach at the foot of the steps.
