Tupile Anchorage (San Ignacio de Tupile)

9° 17.6′ N · 78° 9.4′ W · approximate

Anchorage off the traditional Guna village of San Ignacio de Tupile in the eastern comarca, between Playón Chico and Ailigandí, used as a cultural stop on the coastal route east.

Practical

Coordinate approximate and derived: about 200 m SW of the village point in OpenStreetMap (node 7797443015), checked to be in water clear of the mapped coastline; no published waypoint or depth found, so use the Bauhaus chartlet and eyeball navigation. Charts east of Snug Harbor toward Colombia are only moderately reliable and can be dangerously inaccurate (noforeignland). Noonsite's 2018 fee list: $10 anchoring for 30 days at San Ignacio de Tupile (verify locally; keep the receipt). OpenStreetMap marks a tourist attraction called Pelican Island just west of the village. Village etiquette applies: ask before landing and before photographing anyone, dress modestly, and expect alcohol to be banned in some villages.
