Mono Island & Five Palm Island Anchorages

9° 16.4′ N · 78° 7.5′ W

Two stops on the 'National Geographic' route east of Snug Harbor: a mud anchorage between Mono Island and the mangroves, and the postage-stamp Five Palm Island with clear water for a lunch stop.

Practical

Mono Island: 09°16.376'N 078°07.518'W, 4.5 m mud between island and mangroves, less protected than the guide suggests unless close to the island; wooden signs in the water reportedly say no anchoring, so check locally. Five Palm Island: 09°17.530'N 078°07.332'W, 8.5 m sand patch, a short stop only (too rolly overnight); an uncharted 3 m patch was found between Five Palm and Mono (SY Balvenie 2012).
