Tikal Day Trip from Río Dulce

Leave the boat in a marina and head north to Tikal, the great Classic-Maya city in the Petén jungle — climb Temple IV at sunrise as howler monkeys roar over the canopy.

Coordinate is Tikal (Wikipedia). Río Dulce to Flores: about 4 hours by shuttle or Pullman bus (US$30-40, 2026 operator fares; shuttles leave Flores 6:00 am for the return). Flores to Tikal 63 km, about 1 hour. Park entry Q150 foreigners (one day); sunrise add-on Q100 (entry 4:00-6:00 am, authorised guide compulsory); park open 6:00 am-6:00 pm. Realistically a 2-3 day trip with a night in Flores or at the park. UNESCO World Heritage Site.
