Mayflower Bocawina National Park (Antelope & Bocawina Falls)

16° 56.0′ N · 88° 23.0′ W

About 7,000 acres of rainforest in the Maya Mountains foothills behind Hopkins and Dangriga, with trails to Antelope, Bocawina and Three Sisters falls, three small Maya temple sites and a zip line.

Practical

Position: the Mayflower visitor centre on OpenStreetMap; Wikipedia gives the park at 16.9325, -88.3829 at mile 6 on the Southern Highway. Waterfalls mapped on OSM: Antelope Falls (16.93734, -88.39352), Upper Bocawina Falls (16.92082, -88.40528) and Lower Bocawina Falls (16.92272, -88.40249). Antelope Falls is a harder climb in the rainy season (Wikipedia). Wikivoyage says it is about a 20-minute drive from Hopkins; Bocawina Rainforest Resort runs zip-line and guided waterfall tours. Managed by the Friends of Mayflower Bocawina National Park. Leave the boat at Sittee River Marina or Dangriga. Start early to beat the heat, carry water and wear proper shoes - the falls trails are steep and slippery.
