Texan Bay Restaurants (La Laguna Marina Lodge & Manglar)
15° 45.8′ N · 88° 50.1′ W · approximate
The jungle-lagoon marina at Cayo Quemado has long had a dog-friendly eco bar-restaurant famed among cruisers for the coldest beer on the Río Dulce, with a second restaurant next door.
Practical
Approximate coordinate: the OSM Cayo Quemado settlement node beside the Texan Bay lagoon; the restaurants aren't individually mapped. The names keep changing. Cruising World described Burnt Key Marina, run by a Dutch captain, with the original Texan owner, Mike, running the Manglar restaurant next door. Spirit of Argo (2015) found a cool eco-friendly bar-restaurant on the shore of Burnt Bay Marina. Commuter Cruiser says it is now La Laguna Marina Lodge, about 35 minutes by boat from Fronteras and 20 minutes from Livingston. Ask on the Río Dulce cruiser net what is open before you count on a meal. Anchor in the lagoon (2.5-3 m, see the Texan Bay Anchorage entry) and dinghy in.
