Texan Bay Anchorage (Cayo Quemado, El Golfete)

15° 45.7′ N · 88° 50.2′ W · approximate

A lagoon anchorage at the gorge's upper end, entered through mangroves past a small marina-restaurant — totally surrounded by jungle, with creeks and lily lagoons to explore by kayak.

Practical

Spirit of Argo: weave through the mangroves past the marina to a fair-sized lagoon with 2.5-3 m all round. The marina has changed names (Texan Bay Marina, Burnt Key/Burnt Bay Marina, La Laguna Marina Lodge) — check current status. Noonsite recommends Texan Bay if anchoring down-river. Mini Mike's Juke Joint across the bay was mentioned by a cruiser. Coordinate approximate (derived from the OSM Cayo Quemado settlement at 15.76382, -88.83582) — eyeball the entrance.
