Siete Altares (Livingston)
15° 51.2′ N · 88° 47.5′ W
A chain of seven freshwater pools and cascades stepping down through the jungle to the Caribbean about 5 km north-west of Livingston — once a Garifuna ceremonial place, and a cool swim at the top.
Practical
Coordinate is the waterfall from OpenStreetMap. Entry about Q20 per person (no official tariff; operator and traveller reports, 2026). Get there by lancha from Livingston's main dock (about 15-20 minutes, ~Q50 one way in 2023), or tuk-tuk (Q5) to the Quehueche bridge and walk the beach (~30 minutes), or walk the whole beach 1.5-2 hours. Don't walk the beach alone or late in the day — robberies have been reported. One listing gives hours 8:00 am-3:00 pm. Pools can be nearly dry in the dry season; best after rains.
