Livingston Anchorage

15° 49.3′ N · 88° 44.9′ W

The clearance anchorage just inside the bar off Livingston's waterfront, at the mouth of the Río Dulce — a staging stop rather than an overnight haven.

Practical

Waypoint RD03 (July 2007, NW Caribbean wiki): 15°49.32'N 88°44.90'W. OCC: when abeam the fuel station, turn gently to starboard and anchor off town; in strong wind, move a little up-river for shelter after the officials have been aboard. Bottom is soft mud and silt — expect some drag; set well. Not recommended overnight: dinghy/outboard theft and thefts from yachts are reported; keep someone aboard and stow deck gear. Do the paperwork, then continue up the gorge the same day if the tide and light allow (Texan Bay/Cayo Quemado is the first sheltered stop).
