Rincón Anchorage

18° 20.1′ N · 67° 15.9′ W

An open roadstead off Puerto Rico's surf capital at the island's westernmost tip, with famous sunsets and breaks like Domes, Marías and Tres Palmas.

Practical

Waypoint ¾ nm W of the anchorage from the Virgintino PR guide (~2015). Shelter from the prevailing trades but none from northers; pick your weather. Best late in the trade-wind season once northers stop and the Mona Passage settles. Small grocery stores in town. Big winter surf: land the dinghy carefully.

Best for

A fair-weather stop on the west coast

Season

Late spring–summer; avoid winter northerly swell
