Hideaway Caye Moorings (Pelican Cayes)
16° 41.0′ N · 88° 11.3′ W · approximate
The anchorage in the middle of the Pelican Range, a ring of mangrove cayes protected from almost every direction, where tiny Hideaway Caye's over-water restaurant and bar serves rum punch and dinner to visiting crews.
Practical
Position approximate: centre of the ring between Hideaway Caye and Northeast Caye (OpenStreetMap). Five maintained moorings for boats to 50 ft, US$20 per night, pay at the Hideaway dock (Yacht Warriors, noforeignland, Moorings itinerary). Deep-water anchoring with good holding near the northern mangroves, steep drop-off - set carefully. Book dinner on VHF 74; fresh bread by prior arrangement (Moorings eGuide). Approach from the south with Lagoon Cayes and South Caye to starboard, then turn NW and eyeball through the middle - charts are inaccurate, never first time in poor light (Yacht Warriors).
Best for
All-round shelter and a restaurant in the mangroves
