The mangrove 'ponds' and channels of the Pelican Cayes have some of Belize's richest shallow snorkelling - sponges, corals and starfish on the mangrove roots, with rays and turtles around Northwest Cay.

Practical

Position approximate: north side of the range near Northeast Caye (OpenStreetMap). The north side of Northwest Cay and the reefs east and west of it are best (Yacht Warriors). Part of the South Water Caye Marine Reserve: no-take by zone, no touching. Use the dinghy and tie to mangroves or a sand anchor.
