Green Island Anchorage
9° 28.8′ N · 78° 38.1′ W
A quiet, well-protected anchorage behind Green Island (Kanlildup) and its reefs, a favourite refuge when the trades are reinforced and a short hop from Nargana's shops and airstrip.
Practical
Position 09°28.829'N 078°38.099'W, 9 m sand (SY Balvenie 2012). Well protected by the island and reefs (Noonsite); SailScanner rates it reliable with good holding in stronger trades. Water can be murky and warm, with many big stingrays; beach on the windward side collects rubbish, but you can walk all round the island. Nothing ashore. Cell coverage when the Nargana tower works. Covered by the Holandes/Nargana $10/30-day receipt (2018). Ithaka's crew kept returning here in 2002.
Best for
