French Cay bird sanctuary & sharks
21° 30.4′ N · 72° 12.1′ W
A protected seabird colony — sooty terns and brown noddies by the thousand — on the south wall of the bank, where sharks are near-guaranteed on dives and the light on the wall is the brightest in the country.
Practical
Landing restricted: the whole cay is a wildlife sanctuary. The wall dives here are rated among the best in the country (Visit TCI) and are visited by Provo dive boats and liveaboards; currents can be tricky. Rumoured lookout of the buccaneer l'Olonnais. No other island is visible from it.
Best for
Shark and wall diving; seabird watching from the dinghy
