Caye Bokel Anchorage (Turneffe south)

17° 10.2′ N · 87° 54.5′ W · approximate

Overnight anchoring at the southern tip of Turneffe by Caye Bokel and its light, close to the Elbow and the atoll's best wall dives and bonefish flats.

Practical

Position approximate: placed just west of Big Caye Bokel (OpenStreetMap). The Moorings' skippered 'Forbidden Atolls' itinerary anchors free overnight at Caye Bokel or nearby inside the reef. The captain of M/Y Suakin found the SW tip rolly in 10 knots SE because the swell steepens over the shallows, and moved north to Blue Creek (VYA). Caye Bokel is a conservation zone and a spawning aggregation site reserve on OpenStreetMap: no fishing there. Local skipper/guide recommended.
