Calabash Caye (Turneffe)
17° 16.8′ N · 87° 49.3′ W · approximate
A caye on Turneffe's eastern side beside the Calabash Flats, shown on TASA's reserve map, a few miles south of the deep-draft lagoon anchorage reported by Ventura Yacht Agency.
Practical
Position approximate: just west of Calabash Caye's OpenStreetMap outline, inside the reef; no published depths were found, so enter only with a local guide in good light. The eastern reef faces the open Caribbean. Flats nearby suit bonefishing (catch-and-release, licence required). TASA's map also marks The Wit wreck dive - Travel Belize describes the Witconcrete as a 375 ft concrete ship sunk as an artificial reef. Dive buoys are too small for yachts; never drop anchor or chain on coral (VYA).
