Five minutes by water taxi from town, Carenero's left-hand point and the nearby Black Rock reef make Bocas' most accessible surf — from beginner lessons to hollow lefts on a good swell.

Position approximate (surf-forecast.com 'Careneros Point Break'). Left point over reef, very consistent, works at all tides; best with NE swell and WSW winds (surf-forecast). Black Rock has surf schools and suits learners but has a reef bottom and crowds (Tourism Panama). Boats can reach almost all Carenero beaches — surfers should watch for approaching boats, and boats for surfers.
