Drinking Water in Bocas (marina water vs untreated town supply)
9° 20.6′ N · 82° 14.1′ W · approximate
Bocas Town's tap water is untreated, so cruisers fill tanks at the marinas or run a watermaker.
Practical
Position is Marina Carenero (approx). Wikipedia says the town lacks a water filtration or treatment system and that both its drinking water and nearby seawater have very high fecal-coliform levels. Do not fill tanks from town hoses without treating the water, and do not make water close to town. Marina Carenero advertises pressurized drinking water, Ocean Posse lists fresh water at the Bocas Marina docks, and Red Frog Marina provides potable water (Noonsite). Solarte's Ngäbe community uses a well (Wikipedia). Our sources do not name a block-ice supplier. Buy bagged ice at the Calle 3 supermarkets or ask on the 7:45 am VHF 68 net.
