Bocas Town Waterfront Restaurants & Bars
9° 20.4′ N · 82° 14.4′ W · approximate
Two main streets of over-water decks, reggae and surprisingly good food — falafel to sushi, Caribbean coconut rice to Italian — make Bocas Town the archipelago's dinner-ashore capital.
Practical
Coordinate is the town centre (Wikipedia); places line Calle 1 and the waterfront. Cruiser and traveller picks (Wikivoyage, prices 2022–23, verify locally): El Último Refugio (Av. H between Calles 3 and 4; seafood and steak, Mon–Sat 5pm–10pm, +507 6726-9851); Café del Mar (Calle 1 opposite the police station; coffee, breakfast and lunch, daily 8am–10pm); La Buga Gastro Market (shared kitchen, several chefs, daily 9am–11pm); Trattoria Pane e Vino (Italian, Tue–Sat noon–9pm); Octo (small locally sourced menu; melonthego anniversary pick). Bars: Selina's waterfront deck, Barco Hundido (over-water deck above a lit sunken boat; late-night spot) and the Riptide floating bar in an old shrimp boat (SAIL; check it is still operating). Local dishes to try: rice and beans, escabeche, coconut rice, 'patti' empanadas and Old Bank's pan bon (Visit Panama). Dinghy to restaurant docks; ask permission before tying up.
