Thompson Bay and Salt Pond laundry options
23° 21.2′ N · 75° 8.3′ W · approximate
There is no public laundromat in Salt Pond itself, so Thompson Bay boats use Tiny's machines when running, a pickup service, or a car trip to Hamilton's or Cartwrights.
Practical
Bahamas Cruisers Guide (updated March 2019): Long Island Breeze, which used to offer laundry, was damaged by Hurricane Joaquin in 2015 and remains closed. Tiny's Hurricane Hole (242-338-0149) offered washers and dryers at $4 a load but suspended them in March 2019 because of septic overload; ActiveCaptain (April 2022) again lists a laundromat at Tiny's, so ask on the VHF 18 morning net or at Tiny's. Pickup service: Val Harding, Tuesdays and Thursdays, $10 a load (2019, verify locally). Otherwise drive to Hamilton's or Cartwrights (about 30 minutes). Many cruisers catch rainwater and hand-wash. Position is the Thompson Bay anchorage.
