Hillside Grocery is one of the best-stocked food stores in the out islands, with a wider range than George Town's shops plus housewares and hardware. Many cruisers rate its selection and prices among the best in the Bahamas.
Practical
Position is the OpenStreetMap supermarket node, a short walk north of Basil's dinghy dock (turn left at the main road). A 2025 cruiser found popcorn and goods they could not get in George Town; the liquor store is nearby. The Saturday farmers' market (8 am, OpenStreetMap) is a few minutes' walk south. Harding's grocery near the government dock closed in 2014. For fresh fish and lobster, ask locally. The weekly mail boat restocks shelves (Stella Maris reports Wednesday arrival, best stock late Wednesday and Thursday).
