Long Island Regatta (Salt Pond)
23° 20.2′ N · 75° 7.5′ W · approximate
Long Island's annual June regatta at Salt Pond, where traditional Bahamian-built sloops race off the regatta stands and the island turns out for a weekend of racing and parties.
Practical
Bahamas.com: the annual June event draws 500+ spectators and celebrates Bahamian boatbuilding and sloop racing; Wikipedia names Salt Pond as its home. Position is approximate, placed at the regatta stands on the shore between the government dock and the fuel tanks (ActiveCaptain 2025). Visiting yachts anchor in Thompson Bay; the stands are empty and usable as a dinghy landing outside the event. Dates move year to year; confirm with the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism. Stella Maris Resort also points guests to it. Sailabacos says it is held on the Labour Day weekend in June.
