Howe Bay Anchorage (Port Howe)
24° 9.0′ N · 75° 20.6′ W
A reef-sheltered anchorage on Cat Island's south-east coast off Port Howe. It is one of the few places on the island that holds up when a cold front swings the wind west and north.
Practical
Good holding and swing room, and some local boats sit on permanent moorings. It shelters from cold fronts and NE winds, but there is constant surge or SE swell when the wind is E through S, so rig a bridle. Clear water for snorkelling.
Best for
Riding out a cold front on the south coast
Season
Best in fronts (W–N) and NE; rolly in E–S
