Griffin Bat Cave
24° 28.0′ N · 75° 33.0′ W · approximate
A cave off Dickie's Road in central Cat Island, once a hideout for enslaved people and now home to bats, on the walk across to the wild Atlantic beaches.
Practical
Coordinate is the GeoNames point for Gaitor's village, which cruisers used as the start of the road east. Wikipedia: Dickie's Road runs east to Griffin Bat Cave. A 2012 report put a well-marked bat cave on the road about 1/2 mile north of the Ben Bluff anchorage, with a dirt road 1/2 mile further north to an eastern beach for beachcombing. Landing at Ben Bluff is difficult (see that entry), so most visit by rental car. Bring a light.
