Galliot Cay South Anchorage (Calabash Bay South)
23° 38.1′ N · 75° 20.3′ W
The deeper southern end of Calabash Bay off Galliot Beach, with lots of sand and a quieter feel than the resort end. Reefs in front take more of the swell out than at the north end.
Practical
ActiveCaptain (2024): a good alternative for deeper-draft boats or when swell wraps into the north end; in NE swell and SE wind it was noticeably calmer than the northern anchorage. noforeignland rates it 4.0: good holding in sand, some swell reports, restaurant and beach nearby; screens advised against bugs. Enter by the Calabash South or Middle channel in good light. Galliot Cay is privately owned; use the beach below the high-tide line and keep clear of houses. Open to the west.
Best for
A calmer, deeper Calabash Bay spot when the north end rolls
Season
Nov–May in E–SE winds; open W
