Abraham's Bay Town Anchorage (inner bay)

22° 21.7′ N · 72° 59.1′ W

A spot farther up into Abraham's Bay, closer to the settlement, used by cruisers who are willing to eyeball their way through the coral heads to shorten the dinghy ride to town.

Practical

noforeignland 'Mayaguana Town Anchorage' (added Mar 2025): excellent holding, protected E through NW, clear water and good access to the dinghy dock if you follow the recommended route in; three small shops and a rental car right at the pier. ActiveCaptain's Abraham's Bay listing warns that getting nearer town means weaving through shoals and coral heads for about an hour, and that high winds from any direction raise a 2-3 ft chop that makes the dinghy trip difficult; the eastern approach through the reef is narrow and twisty and only for ideal sun and sea. Only for moderate drafts in good light; sound constantly.

Best for

Shortest dinghy ride to Abraham's Bay if you can read the water

Season

Nov–May; settled conditions for the approach
