Winter cold fronts and reinforced trades (Mayaguana & Inagua)
22° 22.0′ N · 72° 58.0′ W · approximate
From November to April, fronts that reach this far south clock the wind round through south and west, followed by days of reinforced north-east trades - which can pin boats in Abraham's Bay or Matthew Town for a week or more.
Practical
Coordinate is Abraham's Bay. Before a front: in Mayaguana move to the Abraham's Bay anchorages (protected NW-E); in Inagua use Man of War Bay for NE-E or Molasses Reef / Sandy Point (shoal draft) for northerlies. Westerlies make every Inagua west-coast anchorage untenable. Leave a generous weather margin on every passage.
