Abraham's Bay port of entry status (Mayaguana)
22° 22.1′ N · 72° 58.0′ W
Abraham's Bay was historically Mayaguana's official port of entry, but there are no resident Customs or Immigration officers and international clearance has not been possible for years - plan to clear at Matthew Town (Inagua) or Long Island instead.
Practical
ActiveCaptain hazard pin 'Mayaguana Immigration Closed' marks the old office: Customs and Immigration at Mayaguana is closed; use Great Inagua or Long Island. Noonsite clearance page (updated April 2023): no officials here for many years and international clearance is not possible; the most convenient port for boats from Turks and Caicos that do not want to go to Inagua is Clarence Town, Long Island. A Waterway Guide reviewer (Apr 2024) confirms Abraham's Bay is no longer a port of entry, and Bahamas Customs' current ports-of-entry list for the southern islands names only Inagua Airport and Inagua Public Dock. If you are already cleared into the Bahamas you can stop freely. Island Administrator's office is in Abraham's Bay (Noonsite lists Administrator Mrs. Ferguson; verify locally). Fly the Q flag only if you are uncleared and stopping for weather, and do not go ashore.
