Walker's Cay Marina

27° 15.4′ N · 78° 23.7′ W

The marina on the northernmost cay of the Abacos, a legendary 1930s-era billfishing outpost that was wrecked by the 2004 hurricanes and reopened in 2021 under new owner Carl Allen. It sits right on the edge of the Little Bahama Bank, minutes from the deep water where the blue marlin, wahoo and dolphin run.

Practical

Position is the marina coordinate published by the marina (27°15.4'N, 078°23.7'W). The marina's website (read October 2026) says the marina is open but the island is still under construction: rental rooms, restaurants and public facilities are not available, so arrive self-sufficient. Listed rates: dockage $5.00 per ft per night with electricity included, plus 10% VAT; gasoline $8.00/gal and diesel $8.50/gal including VAT (no date given on the page, subject to change; verify locally). Hours 8:00 am to 4:00 pm Eastern daily; VHF 74 (monitored during operating hours); reservations info@walkerscay.com or +1 833-869-2553. Bahamas Marinas lists 55 slips, boats to 250 ft, 12 ft at MLW, 30/50/100-amp power, water, ice, showers and Wi-Fi. Approach only by the marina's published north-side waypoint route (see the Walker's Cay Channel passage) and call VHF 74 near the entrance to request a pilot. The marina warns not to use the southern approach in anything but a small tender: markers are missing and charted depths are wrong, with dredging planned. An older ActiveCaptain report (2012) found about 4 ft MLW in the western channel off the bank where charts showed 11-16 ft. Port of entry by appointment (see Walker's Cay Customs & Immigration).
