South Bimini Anchorage (Nixon Harbour)

25° 41.2′ N · 79° 17.8′ W

A roadstead off the south tip of South Bimini near Port Royale, between the island and the Turtle Rocks, used as a landfall anchorage after an overnight crossing.

Practical

Position from ActiveCaptain. Approach due east between the southern tip of South Bimini and Turtle Rocks. Good holding in sand, but small coral heads and ridges can hook the anchor and fake a good set until the tide turns: dive on it. Can be rolly and is not protected from the west or south-east. The old Bimini Beach Club marina dinghy landing was reported completely closed (2017 review), and a reviewer reported harassment by a local resident (2017); keep a low profile. Nearby 'Port Royal South' anchorage is reported protected from N and NE with better holding in the grass than in sandy patches (Noforeignland).

Best for

Landfall stop when arriving early from an overnight crossing
