25° 42.6′ N · 79° 18.0′ W

The marina formerly called Bimini Sands, a fully enclosed basin of concrete floating docks on South Bimini with an oceanfront infinity pool, a quiet setting and the island's other fuel dock. Its jetty entrance is the first thing you line up on coming in from the Gulf Stream.

Practical

Position from ActiveCaptain; OpenStreetMap still labels it Bimini Sands Marina. VHF 68, often not monitored: phone 242-347-3500 (ActiveCaptain; marinas.com lists 772-210-0440 and asks you to email ahead). Entrance: soft-sand shoal across the mouth with about 4 ft at dead low; 8 ft or more inside. Enter on a rising tide near high water (Noforeignland reviewers say high tide only); a 5 ft draft entered one hour before high taking both entrance reds to port and coming in from the south (ActiveCaptain 2021). Marinas.com: boats drawing 6 ft or more should run up along the beach on the old range markers and come straight in; shallower boats can come directly from the west. Listings differ on size (66 to 140 slips; ActiveCaptain 120 slips, 90 transient, LOA to 100 ft). Rates on ActiveCaptain (dated February 2024): $1.50/ft/day October 1 - May 1, $2.25/ft in summer, 30 ft minimum, tax extra; power by length from $10 (to 29 ft) to $60 (100 ft and over) plus 7.5% tax; water $0.35/gal; laundry $3 wash / $3 dry; verify locally. Gas and diesel (Rubis). Shark Lab and the Bimini Nature Trail are walking distance. Customs no longer comes to the marina (2022): take the water taxi ($2-3) to Alice Town to clear. Mosquito spraying increases in calm weather.
