Rose Island North Anchorage
25° 5.4′ N · 77° 13.9′ W
Off the reef-fringed north beach of Rose Island, a favorite of Nassau tour boats for snorkeling over coral heads in front of a gorgeous beach. A swimming pool in southerlies; a trap the moment the wind goes north.
Practical
Waterway Guide position N 25°05.426' W 077°13.875'; depths 8-12 ft. Excellent holding in sand (avoid grass). Protection only ESE through SSW; open and exposed W through NE. Waterway Guide warns that with even a hint of north wind you should leave, as it turns rough within an hour. Tour operators feed sharks here and sharks associate outboard motors with food, so expect sharks around boats. Mild current. Beach landing.
