Gun Cay East Anchorage

25° 35.0′ N · 79° 17.8′ W

The bank-side anchorage off Gun Cay's east shore, with a good dinghy beach and dark skies, a short dinghy ride from Honeymoon Harbour and a natural staging point for the Gun Cay Cut.

Practical

Position from ActiveCaptain. Anchor wherever the sounder shows enough water; grassy patches, so expect to set twice. Good in south-west to north-west winds; a lee shore in north-east and east winds (ActiveCaptain). Noforeignland reviewers suggest anchoring at the south end of the bay to avoid tour-boat traffic; mosquitoes at dusk. The west side of Gun Cay is rocky. Note that Gun Cay is now privately owned, so stay on the beach below the high-water line.
