Cross Harbour Anchorage

25° 57.3′ N · 77° 17.9′ W

A remote, empty bay on Great Abaco's south coast between Sandy Point and Hole-in-the-Wall - a place to break the Berry Islands-to-Abaco run with nobody else in sight.

Practical

Enter in good light from the south watching the sounder; generally 7-8 ft well into the bay, and more water than charted has been reported, letting boats tuck close to shore. Good protection N through SE; totally open to the south. Some find hard coral bottom unless well in - find sand. A pygmy sperm whale was seen about 2 miles off the entrance. Inside the Cross Harbour Protected Area (est. 2015). ActiveCaptain community reports date from 2011-2019, before Hurricane Dorian (Category 5, Sept 1, 2019) hit Abaco; re-check bottom, markers and businesses locally.
