Bimini Bay East Basin Anchorage
25° 45.2′ N · 79° 16.5′ W
A protected basin just east of the Resorts World marinas, not scenic but calm, with a short dinghy ride to the resort and a longer one to Alice Town.
Practical
Position from ActiveCaptain. 12-15 ft over grassy sand on broken rock; a 2023 crew stayed a week with gusts to 25 knots on 100 ft of chain and a 44 lb Rocna. Anchor just south of the channel markers and do not block the working channel. Minimal current. No land access from the anchorage; dinghy to the sea wall next to the Big Game Club (Hero Park) for town. Holding varies across these basins: a December 2025 report found NO holding (fine silt over bedrock) in the next basin east ('Bimini Bay East 2', 25.7534, -79.2711), and the 'Bimini East Channel' south of the jetty is unsuitable overnight because of strong reversing current. A larger basin further north ('Bimini North East 4', 25.7605, -79.2695) has 12-16 ft over a large area with good holding and swing room (reports 2024 and July 2026); buoys drift, so enter only in daylight.
