Seabird Nesting Cays, Exuma Cays Land & Sea Park
24° 26.4′ N · 76° 44.4′ W · approximate
The park's bare rock islets host white-tailed tropicbirds wheeling on their streaming tails, six species of tern, Audubon's shearwaters and brown noddies - the northern Exumas' unheralded second wildlife show, and one you get entirely from the cockpit or the dinghy.
Practical
Peak breeding roughly March-July. Do NOT land on small rock islets in the breeding season - a single disturbance can cost a whole colony's chicks, and it's prohibited in the park. Observe from the dinghy at a distance, engine at idle. Binoculars essential. Ask the rangers which cays are active in the current season.
Best for
Birdwatching from the dinghy
