Whittier Fuel Dock (Shoreside Petroleum, Whittier)

60° 46.7′ N · 148° 41.6′ W

The harbor's only fuel dock is run by Shoreside Petroleum. It is the last fuel before the Sound unless you run east to Valdez or Cordova, so top up here.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM fuel pier node. OSM tags diesel and gasoline with hours of 7 am to 8 pm Monday to Friday and 8 am to 5 pm Saturday; Shoreside's terminal page gives the same hours, closed Sunday, at Harbor Loop Road #2, phone 907-472-2314. The dock caught fire on July 4, 2023, injuring two people and sinking a boat; limited fuelling resumed from the undamaged parts of the dock within a day or two and by truck. I found no confirmation that the dock has been fully rebuilt or what its current pump line-up is (unconfirmed), so phone ahead. The city's harbor map sets a two-hour limit for loading at the dock. A separate 2023 diesel spill at the site, reported at about 400 gallons, reached the harbor. Do not confuse this with the September 2026 fire at the new cruise-ship dock, which is a different structure.
