Decision Point (Prince William Sound)

60° 48.4′ N · 148° 27.2′ W

The point where boaters choose between Blackstone Bay, Passage Canal back to Whittier, or Port Wells and the greater Sound. It is a state marine park with tent platforms and a water-taxi beach, but it is not an anchorage.

Practical

Coordinate is the OSM cape node. Alaska State Parks says the park lies at the eastern end of Passage Canal, about eight miles from Whittier, and that there is no adequate anchorage, so it mostly serves kayakers and small boats. It has two camping beaches, toilets and a small creek for fresh water; the drop-off beach for water taxis faces east on the far side of the spit from the tent platforms. Fee amounts are not stated on the park page.

Best for

A pilotage landmark and kayaker camp, not a yacht stop
