St-Pierre Mooring Field

14° 44.4′ N · 61° 10.7′ W

Pick up a mooring in the Rade de Saint-Pierre, over the wrecks of the ships burned by Mont Pelée on May 8, 1902, off the ruined 'Paris of the Antilles'. The volcano fills the sky above the town.

Practical

Organised mooring zone (ZMO) run by SAEPP / Marine Connect Group. It is buoy only: no anchoring in the bay, and staff allocate your buoy. ActiveCaptain (July 2025) also says anchoring is no longer permitted; Noonsite (Feb 2025) said you could still anchor in deep water far from the dock, so follow the operator's rule. Book online or call +596 696 61 60 43 and call 'Capitainerie' on VHF 09 before every entry into the bay. Staff help you pick up the buoy. The office is at Maison de la Bourse, Place Bertin, open daily 8 am to noon, st-pierre@marina-martinique.fr. 2025 rates incl. tax (visitor tax extra), monohull per night: under 30 ft €12, 30-49 ft €15, 50 ft and over €18. Weekly €65 / €85 / €99.34, monthly €162 / €186 / €210. Multihulls pay 50% more (30-49 ft €22.50/night). Day stop without overnight €8 / €10 / €12. Stays over 15 nights by quotation. Included: clearance at the office and a pump-out barge by appointment. Water is delivered afloat for €2.50 per 100 L plus €5. Rules: boats up to 30 t and 20 m; a working holding tank is mandatory; bow lines no longer than 2 m; dinghies out of the water or alongside. If winds of 80 km/h or more or heavy swell are forecast, staff may order the field evacuated. The rade is exposed to NW swell, and the operator issues cyclone instructions through a WhatsApp group. The 1902 wreck zone is marked by four large yellow buoys: no anchoring, and use the public moorings only while diving (Noonsite). Dinghy: town pier, avoiding the ferry's 'no dinghy' section. A stern anchor helps keep it from going under. The 11 am ferry turns 180 degrees off the north side of the dock (ActiveCaptain). Security: outboard and dinghy thefts (latest reported April 2024) and a burglary on a moored, minded yacht (Dec 2021). Lock everything (Noonsite).
