St-Pierre Market

14° 44.5′ N · 61° 10.6′ W

Saint-Pierre's 1923 iron market hall on Place Bertin, modelled on Baltard's Paris halls, faces the town pier, so fresh fish, fruit, vegetables, kassav and spicy boudin are a few steps from the dinghy.

Practical

Martinique tourism: Place Bertin was the open-air quay for the island's goods before 1902, and the covered market was built in the 1923 reconstruction. The mooring office notes the market faces the town pontoon, with groceries, a pharmacy, restaurants and bars nearby. Noonsite calls it an excellent fresh fish and produce market, open every morning (2018). Supermarkets: U Express (14.74159, -61.17614), Carrefour Express (14.74079, -61.17581) and Ecomax (Fort quarter) per OSM. A 2018 Noonsite comment describes a self-service laundromat on the N2 (rue Bouillé) east of the centre, about 7 am-7 pm, washes €5-9 (verify locally). Fuel by road only (Total and Esso stations, OSM). Water for yachts by delivery from the mooring office.
