Manman Dlo Underwater Sculpture (St-Pierre)
14° 44.2′ N · 61° 10.6′ W
A giant mermaid sculpture inspired by Caribbean legend lies at about 10 m in the Bay of Saint-Pierre. It is one of the largest underwater art installations in the Caribbean and is slowly becoming an artificial reef.
Practical
Martinique tourism: installed at about 10 m by the artist Yémaya; it attracts fish and other marine life. Position from OSM (Maman d'lo). At 10 m it suits good free-divers and scuba divers; snorkellers will see it from the surface only in clear water. Check with the mooring office before taking a dinghy into the area, and stay clear of the wreck-zone buoys.
Best for
An unusual dive or free-dive close to the mooring field
