Princess Margaret Beach

13° 0.1′ N · 61° 14.5′ W · approximate

A crescent of pale sand on the south shore of Admiralty Bay, backed by green hills, with clear calm water, a walk-through cave and rock pools at the southern end. Locals still call it Tony Gibbons Beach.

Practical

Position is the OpenStreetMap beach outline centre (approx). Reach it by dinghy (land at Jack's jetty at the north end), water taxi, or on foot via the Belmont Walkway and the Princess Margaret trail (15-20 minutes from town). Swimming is generally calm; yachts must anchor at least 200 yards off (Ins & Outs). Wear shoes on the southern rocks (urchins). Fay's beach shack under the trees rents chairs and sells drinks and crafts. Named for Princess Margaret, said to have swum here in the 1950s (Wikipedia).
