Admiralty Bay Anchorage (Bequia)

13° 0.5′ N · 61° 14.7′ W

The Grenadines' sailor town harbour: a deep, U-shaped bay on Bequia's lee side with Port Elizabeth wrapped around its head, boatbuilding on the beach, the Belmont Walkway along the south shore and two of the island's best beaches a dinghy ride away. For most boats heading south from St Vincent it is the first proper stop, and many stay weeks.

Practical

Coordinate is Noonsite's position for the bay entrance (13°00'27"N, 61°14'45"W); the anchorage fills the bay east of it. Noonsite (docking page, updated June 2024) calls the bay very sheltered from the trades and able to take a large number of yachts; anchor on either side of the central ferry channel, leave plenty of room for the ferries (you will be moved if you block them) and watch your depth. Depths quoted vary: SVG Yachting (2025) gives clean sand in 5-9 m close to Princess Margaret Beach; a 2017 cruiser report says drop in a sandy patch for good holding. SW of the ferry dock is a pair of large red and green buoys where the fuel tanker moors - keep well clear (they are not channel marks). Several dinghy docks around Port Elizabeth; garbage by the market at the north end. Water comes from a floating barge (Daffodil). Local VHF hailing channel is 68; Bequia Cruiser Net daily at 8:00 am on VHF 68. Clear in at the Revenue Office opposite the ferry dock as soon as you arrive. Security: Noonsite and CSSN record thefts from unlocked dinghies and occasional boardings; lock the dinghy and outboard and close up the boat when ashore. Expect boat boys offering moorings and services. Hurricane Beryl (July 2024) hit the Grenadines; Noonsite (May 2025) says all major marine services are running but some recovery continues.
