Petite Martinique Whitsuntide Regatta
12° 31.6′ N · 61° 23.2′ W · approximate
Petite Martinique's own regatta over the Whitsun weekend: round-the-island and open-boat races for locally built boats, cultural shows and onshore contests including the famous greasy pole, where competitors inch out over the water to grab a prize.
Practical
Coordinate is the main pier (approx); the 2018 regatta opened with racing from the beach at Sanchez. NOW Grenada (May 2018): 15 boats in various classes, cultural performances and round-the-island races, closing with boat racing on Whit Monday. Noonsite describes a two-day regatta 'at Easter' with the greasy-pole contest and a two-day carnival before Lent, so confirm the year's dates locally. Whitsun falls in May or June. The anchorage will be busy with local boats.
