Kelleston Drain Dive (brain coral)

11° 17.4′ N · 60° 30.2′ W · approximate

A drift dive off Little Tobago that ends at a colossal brain coral, about 16 ft across and 10 ft high, billed locally as the largest in the Caribbean or even the world.

Practical

Position is approximate: a general point in the Speyside dive area south of Little Tobago, derived from sources that place the site at Speyside on the Atlantic side; it is not a dive-site fix, so dive it only with a Speyside operator. DAN: the brain coral sits at about 60 ft at the top of a sandy slope; current steady but not overpowering; giant porcupinefish, angelfish, creole wrasses and black durgons on the way. The 'largest' claim is widely repeated but not independently verified. Nurse sharks often rest under the coral.
