Speyside Anchorage (Tyrrel's Bay)

11° 17.9′ N · 60° 31.8′ W · approximate

The bay in front of Speyside village, looking across reef-studded water to Goat Island and Little Tobago: the centre of Tobago's best diving and the departure point for the seabird sanctuary.

Practical

Position is a point in Tyrrel's Bay about 400 m off the shore, derived from OpenStreetMap's Tyrrel's Bay and coastline (approx). No cruising-guide anchoring notes (depth, holding, protection) were found in any source opened, so treat this as a settled-weather day stop: the bay faces east toward Little Tobago and the open Atlantic beyond, the sea between the islands is shallow and reefy (Wikipedia), and the dive sites around Goat Island and Little Tobago are run as drift dives in current. Use a reliable chart and good light, and keep off coral. Speyside lies inside the Charlotteville clearance zone (Castara Bay to Prince's Bay). An alternative is to leave the boat at Charlotteville and come over by road. Jetties: one off Lucy Vale Road in Speyside and one at Blue Waters Inn (OpenStreetMap). Speyside has a health centre.
